College World Series – The Road to Omaha

Jordan and I were talking yesterday about how much we miss going to the College World Series. Growing up in Omaha meant the College World Series during the summer. Full of baseball, good food that’s bad for you, meeting up with friends, and visiting  all the sponsor and activity booths.

Before any of the games began, we would always choose our team. “Our team” often changed from year to year, but it was part of the fun. Decisions were usually based on how cool the mascot was or if we liked the location of the school because more often than not, Nebraska did not make it to the College World Series. Then stop at a booth, buy a shirt or hat, and all of a sudden you’re a die-hard fan 🙂

It was so much fun to see the people who would come from all over, no matter what. You always see LSU fans, even if they didn’t make it to the series. Everyone knows the bead man, decked out in purple and yellow handing out beads to everyone in the stands.

Even though the two weeks of the College World Series were always some of the hottest, you would stand in line for General Admission, just to get into the stadium to see your friends and watch a game. Trying to find a reprieve from the scorching sun by wandering around the stadium, buying food that you would only eat at the College World Series.

Those two weeks of summer were always my favorite to look forward to. I loved living in a city where so much excitement was happening, even for such a short time.

If you live in or around the Omaha area, definitely stop by for a game or even just to tailgate. Pick a team, buy a shirt, and go all in. You can’t go wrong at the College World Series.

Until Next Post,

Jessica
